UPVC Locks in Salisbury

Un-plasticized Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVCu) doors were introduced in the 1970′s. This new type of very strong plastic could be made into a totally new type of door and window system. Flexible and strong it made an excellent substitute for wood; it is also weather resistant and low in maintenance. The construction of PVCu doors makes the locking mechanisms unique.
Upvc Locks
Very often a multi-point locking system is operated by a single locking cylinder, while still using a system with multiple locking points. However, some of the early mechanisms fitted are very insecure having only a few rollers and a latch to secure the door into the frame and do not meet any insurance requirements, so an upgrade may be required incorporating a modern system featuring multiple hooks and deadbolts.
Upvc Door Locks
Most problems we encounter with multi point locks are poor alignment between the door and the frame. If left unchecked this could lead to a lock or gearbox failure which can be costly to rectify especially if the lock fails with the door in the closed position.
Upvc Lock Repairs
With the door open, lift the door handle and turn the key. The lock should operate smoothly. Now try the same procedure with the door closed. There should only be slightly more resistance when lifting the handle up with the door in the closed position. If you are having to force the handle up the door is probably out of alignment.
